Program-Specific Selective Admissions Criteria

In addition to meeting the General Admissions Requirements, applicants to the following programs must also meet the following selective criteria.

Dental Hygiene

The Dental Hygiene program requires a criminal background check and an interview with the Program Director for admission. See the “Criminal Background Check” section in this catalog for details. The Program Director interview takes into consideration previous academic performance, healthcare experience, and overall professional presentation. The outcome of the Program Director interview is considered in ranking applicants.

Seat selection for the Dental Hygiene program is typically determined 30 days prior to the program start date. A deposit of $500 is due within seven (7) days of being offered a seat in the program. This deposit is required in order to hold your place in the program and is refundable if you should decide not to continue with your enrollment prior to your start date. The time period for seat selection varies by campus based on the number of applicants.

Neurodiagnostic Technology

The Neurodiagnostic Technology program requires a criminal background check for admission. See the “Criminal Background Check” section in this catalog for details.

Students who have successfully completed the Polysomnographic Technology diploma program from the same campus, or are transferring into the program with the equivalent approved content from another Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Polysomnographic Technology diploma program will receive block transfer credit totaling 29.5 semester credits for BIOL1131, BIOL1301, ELEC1710, PSOM1110, PSOM1112, PSOM1216, PSOM1220, PSOM1610 and PSOM2515. The remaining number of credits required to complete the program is 46.5.

A graduate of a Concorde Polysomnographic Technology diploma program is exempt from additional entrance testing requirements. For other applicants, all other entrance requirements as outlined in the Admissions section of this catalog also apply.

Polysomnographic Technology

The Polysomnographic Technology program requires a criminal background check for admission. See the “Criminal Background Check” section in this catalog for details.

Surgical Technology

The Surgical Technology program requires a criminal background check for admission. See the “Criminal Background Check” section in this catalog for details.

During the enrollment process, students will sign a disclosure to include the location of the campus where they will attend along with their address. If a student changes their address during their enrollment, they should contact the Campus Registrar at the location where they are enrolled.

Vocational Nursing

The Vocational Nursing program requires a criminal background check for admission. See the “Criminal Background Check” section in this catalog for details. In addition, the Texas Board of Nursing requires completion of a jurisprudence exam. This exam will be given to the student in Term 5 of the Vocational Nursing Program.
